Naiste Ehitusklubi and Narva Art Residency (NART) invite you to Narva Venice for a very special Building Workshop on the 1.-3. of May - where we will build a terrace on top of a container! Yes, you heard right!
The workshop will take place in the Kulgu area—also known as Narva Venice - which is located just outside of Narva. It is a unique system of canals along the Narva Reservoir, lined with boat garages built by locals. But these garages are much more than simple storage spaces—they are places where people come to relax, fish, garden, build, enjoy the sauna and gather with friends. It is a vibrant, DIY-driven community landscape.
NART owns a second-hand container house here with the goal to transform it into a cozy accommodation for artists and art lovers exploring Narva Venice.
Let's help them to build a terrace on top of the container house and a staircase leading up to it. From the terrace, there will be an impressive view across the water—including towards the nearby Russian border.
What will you learn: Apart from spending a fun weekend in a group of likeminded women next to a scenic river this workshop offers you the possibility to learn all the basics of building with wood - from building a foundation, a stable wooden structure, placing the floorboards, building a railing and also 3m high stairs. We will teach you how to use your drill and a circular saw and many other tools.
The Workshop will start on Friday 1st of May at 10 am and finish on Sunday 3rd of May around 4pm, but you may also already arrive on Thursday evening.
Accommodation:
You can choose whether you would like to stay at the student
dormitories at Narva Art Residency or camp at the Narva Venice area.
There are two dormitory rooms, each with 8 beds. Showers, running water,
and a sauna are available at the residency building. Bed linen and
towels are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own.
